PEI Jewish Community Cemetery

The Prince Edward Island Jewish Community Cemetery Co-operative and the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens has designated a section of 80-100 plots for Jewish burial. The Jewish portion will be defined by rope fencing and a marker.

Floral Hills is owned by the PEI government, so long-term continuity is assured.

Jews and close family members, including non-Jewish spouses, will be buried together. This area will be available to Jewish residents of all of the Atlantic Provinces; membership in the PEIJC is not required.

Winter burials (not the norm on PEI) will be accomplished using a dedicated concrete burial crypt within the Jewish cemetery to allow internment over the winter without machinery and then reinternment in the spring.

Estimated current burial costs (as of 2025) are as follows:

All prices shown are in Canadian dollars and include HST

  • Membership fee in the Prince Edward Island Jewish Community Cemetery Cooperative to cover start-up costs (estimate): $200

  • Plot cost (including perpetual care): $1,000

  • Internment costs: $1,000 - $1,400

  • The purchaser is responsible for any transportation fees and the funeral service.

*While the plot fee and internment fees are paid directly to Floral Hills, the PEI Jewish Community Co-operative will charge an additional startup fee to pay for the costs for land surveying, installing post and rope fencing and signage and the winter crypt burial plot associated with startup of the Jewish cemetery and future development costs.

Memorial plaques are purchased from Floral Hills. They are bronze cast and are mounted flush with the ground. Design of the plaques will require approval from the PEIJCCC and must include Jewish symbols only, and text only from Old Testament sources.
